Recent activities of the Waves and Dynamics Working Group

Jun-Dec 2021 update

• There is great interest in crest-top sites during the Winter EOP, although the difficulty of maintaining measurements in challenging conditions is recognised.

• Promising discussions with Klaus Ohlmann about measurements onboard high-altitude glider flights during wave events.

• A cross-over group (with the MoBL WG) has been formed to look at waves cold-air pool interactions.

• The WG have discussed with Charles Chemel about which observations will be useful for the major waves and dynamics focus in the TEAMx-UK proposal.

• There’s a clear summer airborne campaign effort via TEAMx-US and the UWKA. A winter airborne campaign seems likely via European groups. It would be good to build links between these proposals/EOPs.
